Iron Man Hulkbuster Suit

This page is about the Hulkbuster Helmet. Check out the check out the main project index for the rest.

There are some YouTube videos about this section

I wanted to make the Helmet of the suit look a little like the Hulkbuster Helmet in the Age Of Ultron trailer that has been released recently (Nov 2014). In the trailer it appears from behind the head and the faceplate comes from no where. In reality this is a little tricky. However, I’m going to attempt to build three sliding sections which come from the top and sides of the head, followed by a faceplate which pops up from the torso below.

This involves a curved sliding carriage for the top of the helmet, and two pivoting sections:

The carriage will be driven with a ‘hacked R/C servo’ – which will have continuous rotation. This will be attached to the carriage and drive itself up and down a tensioned line:

The side panels will be attached to the pivoting pieces, again a hacked servo will be used to drive the pivots around the semi-circular pulleys:

The helmet panels themselves are one giant 3D print. Well, several smaller 3D prints cut up:

You can get the files for 3D printing from my downloads page.
